These are in volume 23 of the Sussex Records Society. https://openlibrary.org/books/OL14036606M/Publications

    Richard Aylwin
    William Ayling of Ashe

    Nicholas Ayling
    Francis Ayling

    Listed for Woolbeding are:

    John Aylinge
Nicholas (1593-1670), Thomas (1596-1649) and William (1605-?) are probably sons of Nicholas Ayling (1562-1641). Not sure about John.

Anthony Ayling & Richard Ayling as listed as Overseers for Stedham.

An Edmund Ayling is listed as Overseer for Chitchurst.

There are three Williams and one Nicholas listed under Elsted as protestators.

Thomas Ayling listed under Linchmere. His name was originally crossed out and then added at the end. Probably reconsidered.

Thomas and John Ayling in Selham.

A William Ayling is listed as church warden in Tillington.

    Henry Ayling in Trotton.

    Update:

The previous post captured Ayling names in the 1641 Protestation using a search engine that was not getting all names. So I went through each page and pulled them all out:

These are in volume 23 of the Sussex Records Society. https://openlibrary.org/books/OL14036606M/Publications. A requirement by parliament for all males over the age of 18 to state their “allegiance” to the Protestant faith. This presents a fairly accurate adult male population of each parish with almost exactly 50 Ayling males in West Sussex on February 20th, 1641.

Organized below based on most numbers of Aylings per parish.

I have this info on a map on the ancestry.com message boards under surname “Ayling”.
