The previous post captured Ayling names in the 1641 Protestation using a search engine that was not getting all names. So I went through each page and pulled them all out:
These are in volume 23 of the Sussex Records Society. https://openlibrary.org/books/OL14036606M/Publications. A requirement by parliament for all males over the age of 18 to state their “allegiance” to the Protestant faith. This presents a fairly accurate adult male population of each parish with almost exactly 50 Ayling males in West Sussex on February 20th, 1641.
